Risks, Health and Safety
-
Birdwatching in itself is generally not considered dangerous. That stated, there are hazards that will be encountered that can cause minor or serious injury. As we bird outdoors, there is a range of hazards that we may have to negotiate or be aware of including vehicles on roads, uneven ground, rock formations to traverse, presence of water bodies, plants and insects that can sting you, animals that can bite you and so forth. Whilst our staff will do all they can to make you aware of these, and provide a safe and enjoyable experience, we do require you to:
• Make us aware of any injuries or medical conditions that may have a bearing on your tour experience
• Acknowledge you are voluntarily participating in your tour, are aware of the possible risks and dangers involved. You also acknowledge that you and the other members of your party, agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Wings in Royal, their employees and agents, for any injuries or loss/damage to equipment.
• We will expect all of our guests to sign a waiver prior to the commencement of our tour that releases Wings in Royal from any liability in the event of an injury. -
If long walks are an issue, please let us know and we can tailor our tours to safely meet your physical needs.
-
If you have injuries, a medical condition, allergies and so forth and require medication (such as an adrenaline autoinjector [EpiPen], asthma inhaler and so forth) we expect you to have that on your person during the entire period of our tour and to make our staff aware of this situation. Our staff will also need to be advised where the medication is stored, and how to administer if you are incapacitated. To administer medication, we will require you to give us permission at the start of our tour.
-
The Royal is a large National Park and there are areas we will bird that have limited to no mobile coverage. You need to be aware of this as this will influence the speed at which emergency agencies can be contacted, provide assistance and conduct any necessary evacuations.
-
Our staff:
• Will be first aid trained
• Will carry a first aid kit that is tailored to Australian conditions
• Will provide insect repellant, sun block, hand sanitiser and drinking water
• As mobile reception in some parts of the areas we bird is limited, we will carry an emergency position-indicating radiobeacon (EPIRB). -
In the worst-case situation that a significant injury occurs, and for example hospitalisation is needed, we will do all we can to assist with this, but note Wings in Royal will not be held liable for any expenses incurred.
-
As a participant on our tour, you agree that Wings in Royal is not liable for any injury, death, damage, monetary loss or loss of property as a result of your participation.
-
When planning your tour, we strongly recommend you obtain travel insurance and will ask for details on this. We recommend you check your insurance to ensure it covers all likely scenarios that may be encountered.

Neither party will be responsible for any delays or obligations due to causes beyond their control, including acts of God, nature, civil commotion, restrictions, or regulations of governments imposed at the time of the tour, strikes, lockdowns and any pandemic (including impacts of Covid-19) and the consequences thereof.
