The bush retreat is tastefully appointed with quality sheets and towels. The bathroom features a rainhead shower and natural timber countertop that smells divine.

At nightime as you are tucked up in your cosy bed, you can hear the ocean and small possums scurrying about.

In the morning you can sit on the deck and enjoy the serenity as you look out over the mass of trees to water-views of the Port Hacking.

You may like to take a short stroll to the beaches of Bonnievale or the village of Bundeena for coffee and cake. Alternatively you could head out to one of the many wonderful bush walks in the National Park.

Everything you need is here including coffee machine, microwave, TV and beach towels.

The hosts are super friendly, helpful, accomodating and experts on the local area.

We absolutely loved the bush retreat and will definitely be back.

I had a very exciting birding day with birding expert and very friendly Deryk and his son Harry.

Before the tour I sent in my wish list and we saw many of them as we visited many different sites. As Deryk temporarily couldn't walk so easily he brought his son along and I was extremely privileged to be guided by such experts and keen birders!

They know where to look, what they hear, and are patient to point out where the birds are — and are just as happy as I was with a new bird (and photo).

They know how to distinguish all the "smaller brown stuff" :-).

Thank you both for the wonderful day and smooth communication before and after!

On the first day of our Australia trip we went on a guided tour with Deryk, which was a great way to kickstart our birding adventure on the other side of the world.

As a local, Deryk knows the Royal National Park by heart and took us to a range of varied ecosystems within the park (jungle, forest, flats) — we saw more than 50 species which Deryk could skillfully identify, amongst them the Satin Bowerbird and Large-billed Scrubwren.

It was just me (a medium-level birder from Europe) and 3 beginner friends, and we had an amazing half day tour with Deryk — very friendly and easygoing, communication was great, we learned a lot, and even my beginner friends are now a lot more interested in birdwatching!
